Floating Pontoon Solutions recently worked alongside SSE Contracting to replace and re-cable some lighting columns in Leeds, and such was the success of the project, both were highlighted in their Communications Magazine:

“My Safety Story – Peter Taylor SHE Manager”

“Our team was recently working at Kirkstall Bridge in Leeds to replace and re-cable 12 small lighting columns. Work was carried out on a bridge spanning the River Aire and a railway with HV cables overhead. This particular bridge carries one of the busiest roads in the centre of Leeds. Its a grade two listed structure and we’re restricted as to what work we can carry out. The columns are cabled from below the structure and the new cables had to follow the existing cable route, using the existing fixing holes. It was decided after much debate that the safest way to achieve this was to access the underside of the bridge from a purpose-built pontoon in the river. This task presented many challenges but with good communication, robust risk assessment and expert support, the work from the river was completed without incident.”

A great example of using an innovative solution with our safety motto at the core of the job: we do things safely and responsibly or not at all.
