Modular Floats: The Essentials

Low Installation Costs & Environmentally Friendly Pontoon Components

The Benefits of Modular Pontoon Components

Looking for a floating pontoon platform that’s easy to assemble and keeps installation costs to a minimum?  That’s exactly what’s available at Floating Pontoon Solutions.

Our modular floating pontoon system is safe in its approach to the environment as well as to users. It is highly stable, and manufactured from non-pollutant materials. With low installation costs and minimum upkeep levels, the solution can form the basis of excellent value permanent or temporary structures.

The product is manufactured from 100% recyclable material. It is also rot-proof and resistant to acids, bases and hydrocarbons.

Module Pontoon Components

Double Float
The double full float has been designed to increase the stiffness and strength of the pontoon while reducing the time it takes to assemble a pontoon or dock.

Our unique service channel allows you to run water and/or power through you dock and can also be used as a security device linking all the floats together in a secure way.

Dimensions: 966mm x 483mm x 390mm (38″ x 19″ x 15.5″)
Weight: 11.5kg (25 1bs)

Single Float
The single full float allows the flexibility to configure any desired shape of pontoon or dock.

Our unique service channel allows you to run water and/or power through you dock and can also be used as a security device linking all the floats together in a secure way.

Dimensions: 483mm x 483mm x 390mm (19″ x 19″ x 15.5″)
Weight: 6.5kg (14 1bs)

Double Low Float
The double low float has been designed to increase the stiffness and strength of the pontoon while reducing the time it takes to assemble a pontoon or dock.

Ideal for use for applications where low water clearance is an advantage for example swimmers, rowers and canoeist’s. It can also be used to create slip ways for floating boat parks.

As a working platform it also gives the user the better access to the waterline while still maintaining the excellent stability of all VersaDock products.

Our unique service channel allows you to run water and/or power through you dock and can also be used as a security device linking all the floats together in a secure way.

Dimensions: 966mm x 483mm x 230mm (38″ x 19″ x 9″)
Weight:  11.5kg (25 1bs)

Single Low Float
The single low float allows the flexibility to configure any desired shape of pontoon or dock when used in conjunction with the double low float.

Just like the double low float, the single low float ideal for use for applications where low water clearance is an advantage for example swimmers, rowers and canoeist’s.

Our unique service channel allows you to run water and/or power through you dock and can also be used as a security device linking all the floats together in a secure way.

Dimensions: 483mm x 483mm x 230mm (19″ x 19″ x 9″)
Weight: 6.5kg (14 1bs)

V Float: Storing Boats Clear of the Water
Our ‘V’ Float allows you to store your boat, RIB or PWC clear of the water and therefore dry.

This allows your asset to remain free from weed growth, barnacles and worms. It eliminates the need to ‘anti-foul’, which reduces costs and helps protect the marine environment. Clean boats use less fuel which again reduces costs and means your boat is faster through the water.

Based on our single float, the drive on ‘V’ Float is immensely strong and, as it has no moving parts, is maintenance free. Based on our single float, it also saves space compared with other products on the market and therefore offers the commercial user a better return on investment.

Dimensions: 483mm x 483mm x 230mm (19″ x 19″ x 9″)
Weight: 6.5kg (14 lbs)

The standard connecting pin is used for joining modules within the pontoon or dock area.

This blow-moulded pin has a robust thread and unique service and/or security feature. Using a ‘T’-bar tool, pins are screwed in to nuts which are fixed to the corner tabs of each float and tightly fix modules together.

When fixed in position the top surface of the pin becomes part of the pontoon deck and is textured with a checker plate pattern to give increased grip.

Used in conjunction with the sliding nut, this is a double length version of the standard internal connecting pin.

Used when more than one layer of float modules are needed, for pontoons and platforms requiring increased water line clearance or buoyancy.

Long connecting pins are threaded and work in exactly the same way as the shorter standard internal connecting pin.

The external connecting pin is manufactured from HDPE and is used to join floating modules together around the perimeter of a pontoon or dock.

Its robust thread is tightened using a Hex tool into a sliding nut to create a strong fix of the corner tabs offering strength and rigidity to the pontoon and/or dock.

The sliding nut fits to the corner tabs of the modules and is used to receive both the internal and external connecting pins to join modules together and create a pontoon structure.
In some circumstances where there are less than four modules together (at pontoon edges and internal corners) a spacer disc is used to replace the absent corner tab and ensures a level pontoon surface is maintained.
The outboard engine bracket is used to mount outboard boat engines on to the pontoons and can take up to a 30Hp engine.
The standard stanchion incorporates a third dimension to eliminate any flex outward should the stanchion be leant on. They are made from galvanised mild steel, and come with either external rings or internal holes to thread rope or wire.

The stanchions are separate from either the corner base or the standard base. This allows the stanchions to be placed anywhere on the dock and in any configuration.

Various types of hand railing and barriers are available and the modular pontoon can facilitate a site specific design, increasing efficiency and enabling you to work with confidence.
Available in Galvanised mild steel, the dock connectors are available in 600mm (2ft) and 900mm(3ft).

They connect to existing pontoons or walls, and drop through the external tabs, this allows the floats to be securely attached, but free to move up and down.

Available in White or Blue, the fender is connected to the outside edge of the dock using the standard pin and nut.

Made from polypropylene, it is tough and durable.

Our standard cleats are made from galvanised mild steel or Aluminium.

The Versadock lightweight cleat is suitable for dinghies and the heavy duty cleat is used for mooring larger vessels alongside.

Float Size & Buoyancy

The general sizes available are 966 mm x 483 mm x 390 mm which weigh approximately 11.5kg per double float.

This makes them light weight enough to be carried by hand to the water’s edge when there is limited access. Each square metre of pontoon can take up to 175kg of evenly distributed weight.

They have buoyancy of the following measurements:

175kg/m² with one layer

350kg/m² with two layers
