One of Hull’s City of Culture events was a theatre performance on water in Victoria Dock. Although the stage was already constructed, FPS was tasked to provide an access and emergency evacuation walkway to the stage. However, the main requirement was for this not to be visible during the performance, so FPS’s solution was to incorporate a swinging mechanism into the walkway that enabled it to be drawn towards the floating stage when required. It was a project that was certainly different, and such was the success and effectiveness of the walkway, FPS have been asked to provide it again during June when the performance will be repeated for BBC filming.
